SEL With Intention · For teams
Teach and Reflect Together
A 40 minute, hands on PLC session. No slides and no new content: teachers bring an activity they already taught, share what happened, rehearse the next one with a partner, and plan the coming week together.
Ready when
- Teachers finished SEL With Intention. Leaders can see who finished in School reports, under Professional learning.
- Each teacher taught at least one RoseThread Connect activity and confirmed it with the one tap check in.
- Everyone brings a laptop or phone, and, if they like, one piece of student work with names and identifying details removed.
Facilitator guide (40 minutes)
Teach and Reflect Together: a 40 minute PLC session
| Time | What happens | Facilitator notes |
|---|---|---|
| 0 to 5 | Open with the adult. One round of Steady from the SSCC Practice™: one slow breath, then each person names one word for how this week has felt, or passes. | Model it first. Passing is always fine. |
| 5 to 15 | Share. In groups of three, each teacher takes 3 minutes: the activity, the skill, one thing students did or said, and one thing they would change. | Use the share frames below. Listeners ask one question each, no advice yet. |
| 15 to 25 | Rehearse. Each person opens next week's activity and reads the "Name it" introduction out loud to a partner. The partner gives one glow and one grow. | Keep it short and kind. The goal is to hear how it sounds before students do. |
| 25 to 35 | Plan. Course teams pick next week's activity together in RoseThread Connect and tap the day they will teach it. | Same course teams can teach the same activity and compare notes next time. |
| 35 to 40 | Commit and recognize. Each person says the skill and the day. The leader gives one specific shout out, in person or in School reports. | Write commitments where the team can see them. The check in after teaching is the follow up. |
Share frames
What I taught
"I taught ____ in ____. The skill was ____."
What students did
"One thing students did or said that showed the skill was ____."
What I would change
"Next time I would ____, because ____."
One question
"What did you say when ____?" or "How did you set up ____?"
Guardrails: student work shared with colleagues has names and identifying details removed. Sharing is for learning, never evaluation. No student is labeled, scored, or referred based on an SEL reflection; concerns go through your school's normal counseling and MTSS process.
