Terms of Use
1. Who we are
RoseThread Learning ("we," "us") is a California education business owned and operated by Dr. Jessica Rose Mathy. RoseThread Connect is our library of high school activities that connect academic content with Social and Emotional Learning, along with free professional learning for educators. These terms apply when you visit rosethreadlearning.com or use RoseThread Connect. When you check the box to agree and create an account or sign in, or when you use the materials, you accept these terms and our Privacy Policy. Using RoseThread Connect is voluntary. You choose whether, when, and how to use any material. If you do not agree, please do not create an account or use the materials. We keep a record of the date and the version of the terms each account accepted.
2. Who can use RoseThread Connect
Accounts are for teachers, school staff, and other adults who work with students. You must be 18 or older. Students do not create accounts and do not use the site directly; teachers print or project the materials for them. You sign in, and you agree to keep your account to yourself.
3. Free to start
- Every new account receives 10 free credits. No payment card is required.
- One credit unlocks one activity, or one weekly reflection or My Week set. Once unlocked, it stays in your account, even if you never pay for anything.
- What a credit includes: every credit, free or paid, unlocks everything in that activity: printing, PDF downloads, the projected slides, and the Google tools (Google Forms, Google Docs, and Google Slides).
- Earned credits (from classroom feedback, activity suggestions, and invites) unlock an activity with everything, including the Google tools. Activities unlocked before October 8, 2026 keep everything they included.
- Before you unlock an activity, you can preview the front page of its student worksheet.
- You can earn more free credits by sharing feedback after you use an activity in class, and by suggesting a specific activity we should build, as described in the library.
- The professional learning course, SEL With Intention, is free. Anyone can read it. To answer its quick checks and earn the certificate, you sign in with a free account, and your answers, certificate, and badge are saved to your account so you can print them anytime. The certificate of completion and the badge show that you completed this free course. They are not a license or a credential from any state, agency, or CASEL, and they count as professional development credit only if your school or district chooses to accept them. If you connect your account to your school, your school leaders can see whether you finished the course and when, but not your answers or your score.
- Credits have no cash value and cannot be sold or transferred.
4. Optional paid plans
Paid options are optional, and current prices are always shown in the library before you pay.
- Credits: buy single credits or small packs for any subject. Each purchased credit unlocks an activity with everything, including the Google tools. Purchased credits, and credits given as gifts or through promo codes, never expire.
- School Year Pass: one payment for 12 months of every available activity, with the Google tools, in one subject or in all subjects. It does not renew automatically. Teachers who join during our founding period keep their founding price for as long as they choose to renew.
- Schools and districts: group licenses are priced per teacher for the school year and invoiced to the school or district.
A plan gives you access to every available activity it covers while it is active. Activities you unlocked with credits stay yours after a plan ends. Individual plans are for one teacher.
5. Cancel anytime, and our refund promise
- There are no monthly plans. The School Year Pass is one payment that gives you access for the full 12 months, and it never renews on its own, so there is nothing to cancel.
- 30 day refund: if you are not happy with a payment, contact us within 30 days of that payment and we will refund it in full. No explanation is required. A School Year Pass can also be refunded from your account during those 30 days. To keep the guarantee fair for everyone, we may decline repeated requests that show a pattern of buying, using, and refunding.
- Credits: the same 30 day guarantee covers credits you buy, whether or not you have used them; use the contact form. A refund removes any of those credits you have not used yet, and activities you already unlocked stay yours. Free credits have no cash value and are not refunded.
- After 30 days, reach out anyway. We would rather make it right than keep money for something that didn't help you, and we review every request with that in mind.
- Refunds go back to your original payment method. A refund ends access tied to that payment, but never removes activities you unlocked with credits.
6. Impact Study Schools
Teachers accepted into an Impact Study School get free access to available activities for at least one semester. An impact study may include a shorter feedback window, such as four weeks of brief classroom feedback, but access lasts the full impact study period. No payment card is collected and no one is charged automatically. Any thank you gift, its amount, and how it is delivered are confirmed in writing before you begin. Taking part as an Impact Study School is separate from any formal research study, which would have its own consent process.
7. Referrals
If a teacher you invite creates an account and opens their first activity, you may earn bonus credits, and if they start a paid plan and keep it past the refund window, you may earn free access time, as described in your account. Invite rewards are limited each calendar year and are not available for accounts you create for yourself. Rewards are never cash and never depend on a review or testimonial. We may pause or change the referral program at any time, and rewards already earned will be honored.
8. How you can use the materials
- You may print, copy, project, and adapt the activities you can access for your own students, including in sub plans and for students who are absent.
- You may keep and keep using copies you printed or saved, even after a plan ends.
- Please do not share your login, post the materials publicly or on websites or shared drives beyond your own classes, sell them, upload them to other marketplaces, remove the copyright notice, or use them to train artificial intelligence systems.
- If your school or department wants to share materials more widely, contact us about a group license.
9. Who owns what
The activities, worksheets, supports, videos, course, and the RoseThread Learning and RoseThread Connect names belong to RoseThread Learning. Academic standards and their codes belong to the organizations that publish them, and we cite them for alignment only. RoseThread Connect's five SEL skills are informed by CASEL's SEL Framework. References to CASEL, standards, publishers, and textbooks identify what the materials align to. RoseThread Learning is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by CASEL (the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning), and the CASEL name and framework belong to CASEL. AP and Advanced Placement are trademarks of the College Board, which was not involved in making and does not endorse RoseThread Connect.
Textbook matching. To help you find activities that fit your course, we suggest which activities fit each chapter or unit of some widely used textbooks. We look only at each book's table of contents, meaning its chapter titles and topics. We do not use, copy, or reproduce any textbook content. Textbook titles, chapter names, and trademarks belong to their publishers, and we name them only to identify the book. RoseThread Connect is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any publisher. Matches are suggestions based on the edition we name, and your edition's chapter order or titles may differ, so use your own judgment about what fits your class.
Original work, made in good faith. We write our activities, prompts, guides, and supports ourselves, in good faith, to support teachers. We do not knowingly copy anyone else's work. When we draw on outside frameworks or facts, such as academic standards or CASEL's SEL Framework, we name them. Some materials are drafted with the help of AI tools and then reviewed by us before they are published.
Tell us if something looks wrong. If you believe any material copies someone else's work, uses something without permission, or contains an error, please tell us through our contact form and include what you found and where. We will review it promptly and, where appropriate, correct it, credit it, or remove it.
Independent business. RoseThread Learning is an independent business. It is not run by, connected with, or endorsed by any school, school district, or employer, and the materials do not represent the official views or policies of any school, district, publisher, or standards organization.
10. Your feedback
Please do not include student names, identifiable student work, or private student information in anything you send us. We may use your feedback and suggestions to improve RoseThread Connect. We will not publish your words or use them as a testimonial without asking you first.
11. Use the materials as directed, with your professional judgment
Nothing is required or prescribed. Every activity, prompt, guide, support, suggestion, and textbook or standards match is optional. You decide what to use, when, how, and whether to use it at all, based on your students and your professional judgment.
Follow your school and district first. Before you use any material, follow your school's and district's rules, policies, and guidelines, including any review or approval your school requires for supplemental materials, and skip or change anything that does not fit them.
The activities support everyday classroom instruction by a qualified educator. They are not counseling, therapy, medical advice, or mental health services, they do not diagnose or screen students, and they do not replace any student's IEP, 504 plan, or health plan.
- Review each activity before you teach it, and adapt it to your students, your setting, and your school's policies. Some materials are drafted with the help of AI tools and then reviewed by us, so your review matters.
- Follow the directions, safety notes, and options in each activity. For activities that involve movement, physical activity, performance, equipment, or science materials, you and your school are responsible for supervision, a safe space, appropriate equipment, honoring students' medical and physical restrictions, and following your school's safety rules.
- Students should always be free to pass, to choose an imagined or academic example, and to keep their reflections private.
- Follow your school's referral process if a student needs more support.
12. Student work and responses
RoseThread Learning does not collect, receive, store, read, or monitor student work or student responses, and students do not have accounts. Printed pages stay in your classroom. Any Google Form, Google Doc, or Google Slides file you make through RoseThread Connect is created in your own Google account and stays under your control, and student responses go only to you and your school.
Collect only what you need. Please do not ask students for more personal information than an activity needs, and do not enter student names, student work, or other student information into RoseThread Connect, our forms, or messages to us. Keep any student work, including Google Forms responses, under your school's student privacy policies and the laws that apply to student records.
Report concerns the way the law requires. Educators are mandated reporters. If anything a student says or writes raises a concern about abuse, neglect, self-harm, or safety, follow the law and your school's procedures right away, including your duty to report to the proper authorities. RoseThread Learning is not a reporting channel and cannot receive or act on these reports.
Because we do not see student responses, we cannot notice or act on anything a student writes, including something that may raise a concern about a student's safety or wellbeing. You and your school are responsible for reviewing student work, responding to anything concerning, and following your school's policies, mandated reporting duties, and referral procedures. We write prompts to avoid asking students for private information, and students may always choose an academic or imagined example, but no prompt can prevent a student from sharing something personal. To the extent the law allows, RoseThread Learning is not responsible for the content of student responses or for how they are reviewed or acted on.
When you use Google Forms, Google Docs, Google Slides, Google Drive, or Google Classroom, your use of those tools is also covered by Google's terms and by any agreements your school has with Google.
13. Disclaimers and limits on our liability
We work hard to keep the materials accurate, appropriate, and available, but we provide RoseThread Connect, the materials, the course, and the site "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of fitness for a particular purpose, to the extent the law allows. We do not promise any particular academic, behavioral, or social and emotional result, and we do not promise that the site will always be available or error free.
The materials, including facts, cultural and historical information, examples, and standards and textbook matches, are offered in good faith for general educational use. Despite our care, they may contain mistakes or become out of date. Discussion prompts and examples are meant to start conversation and do not state our position on any issue. Please check anything important before you rely on it.
To the extent the law allows, RoseThread Learning and its owner are not liable for: injuries, losses, or damages that result from how the materials are used, adapted, supervised, or taught; decisions you or your school make; student responses or conduct; services run by others, such as Google, Stripe, Memberstack, and Netlify; or any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including lost data or lost profits. Our total liability for any claim connected to RoseThread Connect is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or 50 dollars.
Because your use is voluntary and you control how the materials are used, you agree, to the fullest extent the law allows, not to bring claims against RoseThread Learning or its owner for matters this section says we are not responsible for, and you release us from those claims. Some laws do not allow certain warranties to be excluded or certain liability to be limited. Where that is the case, these limits apply only as far as the law allows, and nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
14. Your responsibility for your use
To the extent the law allows, you agree to be responsible for, and to hold RoseThread Learning and its owner harmless from, claims and costs that arise from your use of the materials in a way these terms do not allow, from content you add or share, or from your violation of the law or of your school's policies. If you use RoseThread Connect for a public school or agency whose rules limit this kind of promise, it applies only as far as those rules allow.
15. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by California law. If we ever disagree, you agree to contact us first through our contact form and give us 30 days to try to resolve it informally. If that doesn't work, disputes will be handled individually, not as part of a group or class action, to the extent the law allows, in the courts of Riverside County, California, including small claims court where it applies.
16. Changes and contact
If we change these terms in an important way, we will update the date above, let account holders know by email or in the library, and ask you to agree to the new version the next time you sign in. Questions? Use the contact form on our homepage.
