Privacy Policy

Last updated October 21, 2026

The short version. We collect only what we need to run your teacher account. We do not collect student information, we do not sell your information, and you can ask us to delete your account at any time.

Who this covers

This policy explains how RoseThread Learning, a California business owned and operated by Dr. Jessica Rose Mathy, handles information on rosethreadlearning.com and RoseThread Connect. RoseThread Connect is designed for adult educators. Students do not have accounts and do not use the site.

What we collect

The free course. When you answer the quick checks in SEL With Intention, we save your answers, your progress, your certificate, and the name you type for it in your account, so you can come back on any device and print your certificate anytime. If you connect to your school, your school leaders see only whether you finished the course and when, not your answers or your score.

What we do not collect

We do not ask for, and we ask you not to send, student names, student work, or any other personal information about students. RoseThread Connect does not track, profile, diagnose, screen, or score students. Because the service is for adults and collects no student data, it is not directed to children under 13.

Student work stays with you. We do not receive, store, read, or monitor student work or student responses. Printed pages stay in your classroom, and Google Forms, Google Docs, or Google Slides you make through RoseThread Connect are created in your own Google account, so responses go only to you. Because we cannot see what students write, please review student work as you would any classwork and follow your school's procedures if a response concerns you.

Collect only what you need, and report concerns. Please do not ask students for more personal information than an activity needs. Educators are mandated reporters: if a student response raises a concern about abuse, neglect, self-harm, or safety, follow the law and your school's procedures right away. We cannot see student responses, and RoseThread Learning is not a reporting channel.

How we use information

Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Slides, and Google Forms

If you choose Open in Google Slides, Make a Google Form, or make a Google Doc, Google asks your permission first. We request only the limited Google Drive permission that lets RoseThread Connect create files and see the files it creates for you. We cannot see, open, or change any other file in your Google Drive. The slides, docs, or form are created in your own Google Drive, in a folder called RoseThread Connect, and they belong to you. Student responses to a Google Form go to your Google account, not to us. We do not store your Google files, your Google access token, or student responses on our servers, and we do not use Google user data for advertising or share it with anyone. You can remove this permission at any time in your Google Account settings, under Security, then Third party apps and services. Our use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of service providers to run the site, and they may process information only to provide their service to us: Netlify (hosting and storage), Memberstack (accounts and sign in), Stripe (payments and invoices), and Google (optional sign in, and Google Forms for impact study interest). We may disclose information if the law requires it. We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We will not publish your feedback or use it as a testimonial without asking you first.

How long we keep it

We keep account information while your account is open. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete it within 30 days, except records we must keep for tax or legal reasons, such as payment records.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to show you, correct, export, or delete the information we have about you by using our contact form. California residents have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, including the rights to know, delete, and correct personal information and to not be discriminated against for using these rights. We honor these requests for everyone, wherever you live.

Schools and districts

School reports. Connecting your account to a school is optional. If you enter a school code from your school or district, the school and district leaders named for that school can see a report of your RoseThread Connect use: which activities you open, plan, and confirm teaching, how you use them (printed, saved as a PDF, projected, or opened in Google tools), the dates, and your quick check in rating. Your written reflections stay private, are shared without your name, or are shared with your name, as you choose. School leaders may give us a list of teacher email addresses, or a school email domain, so that only their teachers can join; we keep only the email addresses. Leaders can remove a teacher from their school, and in an impact study or licensed school, teachers stay connected unless a leader removes them. Teachers can also opt in to their school's spotlight: when they are in the school's top 5 for activities taught that month, colleagues at their school see their name, their count, and shout outs they receive. It is off unless a teacher turns it on. You can change your reflection and spotlight choices at any time on your school page. School reports do not include student information, and do not include your credits, purchases, or payment details. Reports are meant to help leaders support teachers and see what is working, not to evaluate teachers.

If your school or district needs a student data privacy agreement or vendor paperwork before teachers use RoseThread Connect, contact us. Because we collect no student data, these agreements are usually simple, and we are glad to complete them.

Security

We use reputable providers, encrypted connections, and limited access to keep information safe. No system is perfect, and if a breach ever affected your information, we would tell you promptly as the law requires.

Research

Impact study participation and product feedback are not a research study. If a formal study is ever established, it will have its own consent process approved by the responsible institution.

Changes

If we change this policy in an important way, we will update the date above and let account holders know.
